# How to configure device operation?

**Guide to Configuring Sensor Operating Parameters on MyMove**

Configuring devices before starting structural monitoring is crucial to ensure accurate data collection, effective system performance, and timely detection of potential issues. Proper configuration allows sensors to be calibrated according to the specific needs of the project, ensuring that alarm thresholds and operating parameters are aligned with the structural characteristics. This prevents false alerts and guarantees that the data collected reflects the actual conditions of the structure, enabling better decision-making and proactive maintenance.

## **Verify System Operation**

One of the first steps, after installing the sensors and gateways on the structure to be monitored, is to verify the proper functioning of each device. Therefore:

1. Go to the [Devices page](/untitled/mymove-manual/devices.md) and make sure all installed devices and the gateway are showing as <mark style="color:green;">**Online**</mark>.

If some devices are offline, check these FAQ:

## **Devices Configuration**

After installing the sensors, it's recommended to configure them one at a time by adjusting their settings as needed. To do this:

1. Access the main menu and select "Settings," then go to the "[Device Settings](/untitled/mymove-manual/settings/device-settings.md)" page.
2. For each device, click the "Edit settings" button to access the configuration panel. It's advisable to configure one type of sensor at a time.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set the specific parameters for each sensor. If you have any questions about the parameters to configure, consult the datasheets and instruction manuals available in the "[Devices Documentation.](https://move-solutions.gitbook.io/devices-documentation/)"
4. Make sure to save the configurations before exiting.

## **Testing and Verification**

After configuring the sensors, it is crucial to conduct a testing phase to ensure that each device operates correctly and collects data as expected.

1. Monitor the received data for a short period to ensure it is consistent and accurate. If discrepancies are observed, review the sensor configurations to identify possible errors.
2. Keeping the sensor settings up-to-date is essential for accurate data collection and for identifying and resolving any issues before they impact the monitoring system's performance.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://move-solutions.gitbook.io/untitled/getting-started/how-to-configure-device-operation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
